50 Libraries to Atlanta Public Schools
Fathers Incorporated is teaming up with Little Free Libraries® (LFL) to assist its Real Dads Read® (RDR) program in continuing its mission to impact literacy through a deeper level of father engagement activities in Atlanta. Currently Real Dads Read has 51 libraries in barbershops throughout metro Atlanta. “This partnership is a perfect opportunity to help us increase access to books for low-income children and increase the engagement of fathers in education,” says Kenneth Braswell, Executive Director of Fathers Incorporated. “The libraries serve as an engagement tool to gain access to dads in common spaces like schools and barbershops,” continue Braswell.
As a result of winning the Real Dads Read Black History Month Essay contest, six (6) Atlanta Public Elementary Schools will receive a Little Free Library to increase access to books and initiate the formation of a Real Dads Read Clubs within the schools.
